Carlos Casas, Barcelona 1974
Filmmaker and visual artist. His work is a union between documentary film, cinema, and contemporary visual and sound arts. His last three films have been awarded in festivals around the world from Torino, Madrid, Buenos Aires, and Mexico City and some of his video works have been presented in collective and personal exhibitions. Carlos Casas, studied Fine Arts, Cinema and Design. In 1998 he was awarded an Artist-in-residence in Fabrica, research and communication center of Benetton, in 2000 his short Film “Afterwords”, produced by Marco Müller and Fabrica Cinema was selected for Venice Film Festival, Rotterdam Film Festival and Reencontres du Cinema in Paris 2001. In 2001 he started a series of documentaries for Colors Magazine, he travelled to Patagonia to do a fieldwork that later in 2002 became a 24min documentary “Patagonia”, in 2003 he developed a 52 min documentary, “Rocinha. Daylight of a favela” Shot on location in one of the biggest favelas in Rio de Janeiro. In 2004 he finished “Aral. Fishing in an invisible sea” about the life of the three remaining generation of Fishermen in the Aral sea, which won the best documentary award in Torino Film festival 2004, and was selected for the Rotterdam film festival 2005. Visions du reel Nyon 2005, One world Prague 2005, and Documenta Madrid 2005 where it received the special mention from the jury. In may 2005 he finished a 52 min version of the Patagonia research “Solitude at the end of the world” which received the special prize from the Jury in the Buenos Aires International Film festival 2006. The Siberia project is the last chapter of a trilogy of films dedicated to the most extreme environments in the world. (Patagonia, Aral, Siberia) was awarded Best Documentary award in Mexico International Film Festival 2008. He is currently working on a film about a cemetery of elephants on the borders between India and Nepal.
Lorenzo Tomio, Treviso 1979
Musician, composer and sound designer, lends his talent to new music and 33 theatrical or cinematic image, creating scene music for contemporary theatre and dance, soundtracks for co-productions RAI and Mediaset, sonorous interventions in the most varied circles and propagating its collaborations in a multifaceted and never univocal way.
Co-founder and active member of the theater-dance company Plumes dans la tête, with Silvia Costa, he participates in principal international festival (Egg Performing Arts Festival-Milan, Es-Terni, DroDesera, New creativeness-Rome, Weekend in the cité-Paris..). In 2005, with composer Filippo Perocco, founds the contemporary music ensemble L’Arsenale.
In 2008 he realizes the music of Aubade, an animation short movie that participates to international Festival of animation movie of Annecy, Istanbul Animation Festival, Animate Castles in Rome and wins the prize as Best animation at Lago Film Fest.
Careful inquirer of boundless possibilities of sound, his research becomes the perfect sonorous design for various installations and exposures. His instrumental and vocal works have been performed and commissioned by festival and ensemble like MATA Festival-New York, Astra Concerts-Melbourne, Windspiel-Berlin, Festival New of Organ Music-Londra, Compositori a confronto- Reggio Emilia, Zeppelin Festival-Barcellona, Brinkhall Summer Concerts- Helsinki, Auditorium Parco della Musica-Rome, Ensemble In Extensio-Montréal.
Nils Voges, Germany 1978
Lives and works in Krefeld, Germany. Together with Nicolai Skopalik and Malte Jehmlich he founded in 2004 the design and film production Sputnic. In 2007 they collaborated with their diploma of communication design and created the stop motion animation movie “Südstadt” (City South), that won several awards (e.g. as best european independent animation film at the grand off award, Poland) and that was shown at Lago Film Fest in 2008. Other works of 34 sputnic were music videos, art installations and videos for theaterplays along with traditional graphic design and illustration. This fall they will take part of two art exebitions in germany. Furthermore Nils Voges works as a DJ, VJ and plays in the swedish band project smålldisco.
Beppe De Caro, Melfi (PZ) 1971
From the creative point of view he comes from music. In 1990 with the “Fishkids”, a rockabilly band where he was singer and author, then with the “Ralph Durante Football Club”, travelling around Italy for two years to play in many clubs.
As actor, he participates in the short movie “La verità” by Chiara Cremaschi with Valerio Mastrandrea, he was then ‘Mauri’ in “Lo scippo” by M. De Pascale and finally had a short part in “Nightshots” by Andrea Zambelli and Christopher Evans.
In 2006, as author and director, he realizes “In braccio a Rita”.
In September 2008 “In braccio a Rita” has been screened in TV programme “La 25ma ora” as one of the best videos of that TV contest. In 2007 he realises “Daddy-O – A tutto Rock’n’roll”, a documentary about 50’s music with the participation of Renzo Arbore, Manu Chao, Greg and many others. Presented at the Bergamo film meeting in march 2007, it’s been screened for 15 days in Senigallia (AN) at “La Fenice” cinema in April 2007. In the same year he collaborates as scriptwriter and co-director in a Gigi Tufano’s short movie , “La macchina di Juan” (“Juan’s Car”) – Italy HD 25’. In 2009 he writes the subject and the screenplay for another short movie, “Distesi sulle nuvole” (“Lying on Clouds”).

Antonello Rinaldi, Novafeltria (PS) 1962
Antonello Rinaldi was born in a village of Montefeltro and grew up in Riccione. His writer career start in 1980, when Mondadori publishes one of his tales. He continues his studies in Bologna (D.A.M.S.) and in Urbino (School of journalism).
Later he moves to Rome where he becomes pupil, friend and collaborator of Rodolfo Sonego: together they write many TV series (“Una famiglia in giallo”, “Un commissario a Roma” e “Provincia segreta” and a film (“Il quaderno della spesa”). During the years he collaborates with other important professionals of Italian TV and radio (Dardano Sacchetti, Leone Colonna, Marco Pozzi, Alexis Sweet and Marina Confalone). Since 1999 he is part of the scriptwriters team of “Vivere”, being in charge of dialogues. After many other important experiences (“Sottocasa”, “Incantesimo”) he is now working for a new RAI TV program called “Agrodolce”. Besides he realised the screenplay of “Toppol 313” for Marco Maccaferri.
Luciano De Giusti
He teaches History of cinema and Theories and techniques of cinema language at Trieste University. He is manager of “Lo sguardo dei maestri”, a series of retrospectives and conferences about great directors of cinema history.
As founder of “Giornate del Cinema Muto”, he belongs also to the managing council of this festival.
He takes care of volumes dedicated to Robert Bresson and Ingmar Bergman, as well as the vol. VIII of the History of the Italian cinema (1949 -1953), edit by National School of Cinema. He is author of monographic volumes dedicated to Pier Paolo Pasolini (Rome 1983), Luchino Visconti (Rome 1985), Ken Loach (Milan 1996).
