Lago Dance began its journey in 2015 as an intention and a dream of bringing dance to Lago. Our idea was to revive dance not only through the bodies of the performers, but also through the language of cinema while giving a new dimension to the relationship between movement and images. Over the years, this project has undergone several transformations, like any dream or aim that evolves over time. Our vision has grown, and with it our goals have too.
Since 2023, Lago Dance has taken a bold new direction and has officially become a Dance Observatory including two main sections, one focusing on cinema (video dance) and the other on performance.

During Lago Film Fest, the observatory is divided into two main components: Performance Live and Moving Bodies, both are curatorial projects and, by necessity and vocation, site-specific. This condition is a fundamental starting point in the conception of each of our projects. It means that the places we inhabit turn into stages and the works that are presented on them are designed to dialogue with their environment: with its architecture, its history, its light, the natural elements that surround it and of course with the people who take part in it. Starting from this first idea we have begun and have continued our journey to create, experiment and innovate.
Looking towards the future, we hope that Lago Dance continues to support the strength of co-production, the idea of an active laboratory and the profound union of all artistic disciplines, making each form converge in a harmonious interaction. In sum, Lago Dance aspires to become a small Bauhaus of dance, a place of experimentation and innovation where the different arts intertwine, take inspiration from each other and invent new creative horizons.
We will select films from this archive to be presented this year or at the upcoming editions of Lago Film Fest – Moving bodies.
You can submit any video dance project free of charge with no limits of time or year of production
