A celebration of bold animated worlds. A special program curated by Raman Djafari and Morena Faverin

Relegated for too long in the public imagination as a means of entertainment for children, animated films are now more than ever in a state of turmoil and are scrambling to regain their rightful place.
They are noisy, bold, colourful, extremely pop, irreverent and political: the animations of the Surrealistic Symphony focus will bring to Lago the visions of some of the most interesting and promising animated short film directors on the contemporary scene.

From the video clip “I go” by the Korean Seo Inji made for Peggy Gou to the tale of an acidly romantic evening in the “Hotel Kalura” by Sophie Koko Gate, passing through the most intimate thoughts of the protagonist of “Not Drifting Off” by director Steph Hope, which will visit you in your sleep in the guise of countless sheep, loincloths and muscular dancers.

A manifesto of colourful, bold and surrealistic intentions testifying to a growing excitement in the animated scene of contemporary cinema.
